[Spanish Hip Hop] New Ana Tijoux “Los Peces Gordos No Pueden Volar” Music Video
August 23, 2014  //  By:   //  Music, Spanish Hip Hop  //  No Comment   //   1559 Views

Ana Tijoux has become one of the most successful Spanish language rap artists today and after a series of critically acclaimed singles such as “1977” and, most recently, “Todos Somos Sur” (featuring the talented and beautiful London born Palestinian rapper Shadia Mansour), Ana Tijoux returns with a follow up video to her song “Los Peces Gordos No Pueden Volar”.

Ana’s video happened to be released at the same time as Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda”, and the media has spent a large portion of the past week focusing on the way rap exploits female sexuality. Having girls shake their asses on rap videos is by no means a new thing – it’s an idea older than most of the girls doing the shaking. However, it does help better understand how hard it is for women to become a successful rapper in a day and age of consolidated entertainment outlets and centralized music distribution.

Today becoming a breakout rapper is difficult enough as it is; doing so as a female rapper is probably ten times as hard. To become a successful Latin female rapper is undoubtedly one of the hardest things to do in show business, and to be a Latin female rapper who raps exclusive in Spanish when there is not one single mainstream radio station in the US that plays Spanish rap!?   Not to mention that Anita relays on the subject matter of her songs and not her body.  This helps understand how truly powerful and meaningful Ana Tijuax music really is. This clearly is what sets Ana Tijoux apart, she has practically done the impossible.
