[Spanish Alternative] The Bogota, Colombia Based Flying Bananas Release Their Debut 7 Song EP
They are like a Sci-Fi musical band with the power to take you on a trip of sounds. Meet the Flying Bananas, an experimental jazz, funk, rock, and hip hop band. The band was formed in Bogota, Colombia. Each one of the band’s members have a different musical influence that works perfectly fine when put together.
They were already friends and had started playing shows as a band, but it was In 2013 that they decided to spice up life of the project by accompanying the audio with visuals, including images and illustrations to help not only bring attention to the band, but also their subject matter that the band is addressing. In that sense the Flying Bananas remind me of the Mexico based band Molotov in which they have a fun and almost extreme way of addressing social discontent, and realities currently being lived not only in Colombia, but in Latin America in general.
Although Their 7 song debut EP “Teorías Hilarantes de la Conspiración de un Banano Hipercubicósmico“ was just released yesterday July 23, it appears to only have been a Latin America release. It’s currently not in the iTunes USA store. You can non-the less buy their song single release which includes “We Got The Power” and “Funk No Name.” Both of those songs are included in the EP and already have official music videos available.
