[Hip Hop / Pop] Why You Should Check Out MLKMN’s Major Label Debut “Milktape”

With the Latin Grammy kicking off in Las Vegas, NV this week there has been a wave of Latino artists making pit stops in the Los Angeles area this week. One of was MLKMN formerly Milk Man.  On Saturday night he rocked a packed house at Los Globos night club off of Sunset Blvd.

As someone that knows MLKMN personally for close 10 years now I can easily tell you what sets MLKMN apart, and that is his ability to reinvent himself time and time again.  He has always been a keen student of pop-culture history, and he has enough talent and creative powers in multiple areas that just hands down count, putting his head and shoulders above everyone else and the world is just starting to see him in action. I’ve seen MLKMN master every single style and different aspects of urban music. From Hip Hop, to R&B, Dance music and Pop, MLKMN has studied it and master it all.

The truth is that MLKMN was not part of the Monterrey, Mexico based band She’s a Tease. but MLKMN was the perhaps the single most important person and key player that lead the Band to their massive success a few years back; particularly the band’s single “Why?”  MILKMN saw the potential in the band and made it a personal goal to not only  map-out and organize the recording of their album, but helped recreate the band’s sound taking them into a completely different music style. MILKMN gathered the members of the band all together, all jumped in a car and took a road-trip to record with MLKMN’s partner in crime, Frank El Medico. In the years after MLKMN would continue to do moves, working with mega stars 3BallMTY among others.

So earlier this year Universal’s Machete Music imprint signed MLKMN, which is actually a pretty big deal if you think about it.  You see, it’s been some time since I’ve seen any major Label actually signed a developing artists. I want to say that the last developing Latin Hip Hop artist I saw signed by a major was Omar Cruz  was back in 2006. So the simple fact that Universal Music signed MLKMN is more important than what most people realize.

Universal Music re-released MLKMN’s “Milktape” which features his major label debut single “El Bajo” with Poeta Callejero and Eptos Uno, who also just last month also signed his deal with Universal Music Mexico.  The Milktape is currently running on a promotional sale price of $5.99, which is a no-brainer.
