[Spanish Hip Hop] The Tiny Unstoppable Giant on The Mic, Gabylonia Drops New “Tirano” Single & Music Video
August 26, 2014  //  By:   //  Music, Spanish Hip Hop  //  No Comment   //   1401 Views

Gabylonia steps right back into the spotlight with her brand new “Tirano” music video just released a week ago. At plain sight Gabylonia may appear to be tiny and small, but this Venezuelan MC continues to show the world that she is an unstoppable giant force not to be reckoned with when she is behind the mic.  With her new music video Triano continues Gabylonia’s aggressive in your face style of rapping. The message of Tirano is quite simple. She will not allow her sponsors to dictate her style or music.

Now if you’re discovering Gabylonia for the first time, she is one of the many rapper from Latin America that has been building a name for themselves since the 90’s.  She started her career as a fundamental member of a group Escuadron X.  She had a good run with the group, but it wasn’t until she decided to go solo that she really put her career into high gear at the end of 2008 with the release of her debut “Hip Hop Inteligente en Frasco Pequeño.”  Within just a matter of months from being posted on the internet as a free the album has reached over 45.000 downloads.

However Rap and Hip Hop weren’t always in Gabylonia’s plans; and although she has always had a deep passion for music her background influence was Salsa. Salsa was her family’s favorite music and was always playing in the background at home. Then one day her brother introduced her to Hip Hop changing her life forever.

Gabyloia has worked with countless Venezuelan artists, appeared on both nationally syndicated TV shows and has even landed roles in Venezuelan films, such as “Son de la Calle.” She would eventually start touring outside Venezuela taking her raps and hip hop music internationally. Like so many rappers from Latin America, Gabylonia’s lyrics touch on social conscious, political economic topics.  Some of the notable songs are  “I Love Rap”, “Somos” with Jarabe De Palo & Montse More and now Spanish rap classic “Abuso de Poder”.  In a world in where there seems to be more and more women taking the Hip Hop spotlight one thing remains clear; Galylonia is hands down one of the most important and famous female rappers to come out of Caracas.
