Bocafloja, is a rapper, poet, spoken word artist, book author and outspoken social communicator from Mexico City, Mexico and currently ives in New York city. Lyrically Bocafloja critically addresses racism, social and political oppression, mental slavery, colonialism, and other. It is said that Bocafloja kick started his career in the mid-1990s with the group Lifestyle which he was a part of between 1996-1998 and then in 1999 with Microphonk. Then in the year 2000 decided to pursue a solo career releasing a solo EP “Lengua Insurrecta” in 2002.

Bocafloja has continued to release solo albums to date.  He seems to Bocafloja. Most recent album Patologías del Invisible Incómodo, released in 2012, is a concept album which narrates the experience of the body of the oppressed as a vehicle of transgression to hegemonic structure.  Bocafloja is now releasing the first of his planned music videos for each song on his album, much like Control Machete did with their 3rd and final album “Un, Dos; Bandera”

The Hip Hop comunity outside of Mexico has the tendency to see Bocafloja as a pioneer of Mexico’s Hip Hop scene, and an artists that utilizes Rap as an alternative tool to create awareness, developing a different form for political participation.
